It is with a heavy heart that i announce the passing of my beloved husband, Frank M. Powell, on April 1, 2024. Following is his obituary:

Frank Powell was truly a renaissance man, deeply passionate about pewter and dedicated to mastering all aspects of its craft. From repairing to buying and selling this old gray metal, his expertise was unparalleled. A born artisan and craftsman, Frank's skills extended far beyond pewter as he apprenticed as a young man to become a Journeyman Electrician, showcasing his versatility and thirst for knowledge. He held deep admiration for craftsmen of the past and carried on their legacy through his honest business practices, marked by profound knowledge and fairness. Even as his health wavered, Frank's drive never faltered. Whether customizing his beloved Mustang cars or meticulously assembling model cars, he exemplified a relentless work ethic and a restless spirit. A devoted father and husband, Frank's legacy is not only in his craftsmanship but also in the lasting love and pride he instilled in those around him. jill powell 7/28/2024

large boston "sg" porringer

offered for sale is this 5 1/2" diameter bossed bowl made in the boston area circa 1800. the 'crown' handle has the unidentified "sg" initials cast into its back. the handle is cast onto the bowl, leaving a very nice linen 'dam' mark inside. the basin has nice deep skimming/finish lathe turning marks on the bowls back. the piece is nicely detailed with incised lines inside and out. the condition is good with scratches inside and minor oxidation on the bottom. the porringer is 7 7/8" long.
