It is with a heavy heart that i announce the passing of my beloved husband, Frank M. Powell, on April 1, 2024. Following is his obituary:

Frank Powell was truly a renaissance man, deeply passionate about pewter and dedicated to mastering all aspects of its craft. From repairing to buying and selling this old gray metal, his expertise was unparalleled. A born artisan and craftsman, Frank's skills extended far beyond pewter as he apprenticed as a young man to become a Journeyman Electrician, showcasing his versatility and thirst for knowledge. He held deep admiration for craftsmen of the past and carried on their legacy through his honest business practices, marked by profound knowledge and fairness. Even as his health wavered, Frank's drive never faltered. Whether customizing his beloved Mustang cars or meticulously assembling model cars, he exemplified a relentless work ethic and a restless spirit. A devoted father and husband, Frank's legacy is not only in his craftsmanship but also in the lasting love and pride he instilled in those around him. jill powell 7/28/2024

rare set of six palethorp plates

i am pleased to offer this rare and possibly unique set of six plates by robert palethorp jr of philadelphia 1817 to 1822. robert palethorp was the last of the fine philadelphia makers of pewter. his wares are well cast and finished as are these 8 1/2" single reed plates. his flatware is hard to find these days, for i have never seen a set of his plates. each plate is in very good, lightly-used condition, and has well-struck eagle and name touch marks on the back.
