It is with a heavy heart that i announce the passing of my beloved husband, Frank M. Powell, on April 1, 2024. Following is his obituary:

Frank Powell was truly a renaissance man, deeply passionate about pewter and dedicated to mastering all aspects of its craft. From repairing to buying and selling this old gray metal, his expertise was unparalleled. A born artisan and craftsman, Frank's skills extended far beyond pewter as he apprenticed as a young man to become a Journeyman Electrician, showcasing his versatility and thirst for knowledge. He held deep admiration for craftsmen of the past and carried on their legacy through his honest business practices, marked by profound knowledge and fairness. Even as his health wavered, Frank's drive never faltered. Whether customizing his beloved Mustang cars or meticulously assembling model cars, he exemplified a relentless work ethic and a restless spirit. A devoted father and husband, Frank's legacy is not only in his craftsmanship but also in the lasting love and pride he instilled in those around him. jill powell 7/28/2024

important lee porringer

i am pleased to offer this fine example of a 'taster' form porringer cast marked "r. lee". richard lee sr. worked in new hampshire and massachusetts from 1788 to 1802 and in springfield, vermont from 1802 to 1820. only a few of these porringers exist. one is in the metropolitan museum. see page 89 in the pcca book "pewter in american life." the boss bowl is 2 1/2" in diameter. the condition is mint.
